Mark Broda

Senior Associate

I was born in NW Indiana and grew up loving the outdoors, fishing and hunting.  Working on my grandfather’s farm in the Shawnee National Forest (S. IL) during the summers provided me an opportunity to truly appreciate what Mother Nature has to offer.

After graduating High School in 1991, I enlisted in the USAF and spent the majority of my enlistment stationed at Shaw AFB, SC, where I supported F-16’s and A-10’s.  As a survival Equipment Specialist, I packed just about any kind of parachute imaginable, from F-4 drag chutes to HALO squares for the Special Ops, having 1 official Life Save to my credit having packed the ACESII chute of an ejected F-16 pilot (“Always the last to let you down”)!

I made 2 tours to the Middle East, one being to Incirlik AB outside of Adana Turkey in support of Operation Provide Comfort and the other to Dhahran Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch where I was injured during the Khobar Towers attack on June 25, 1996.

After completing my enlistment and running in circles soul searching, I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Technology and have been in the Information Technology field ever since, currently with the Department of Veterans Affairs as an IT Specialist.  I currently reside in Avon, Indiana and am a gracious husband to my wonderful wife Kate and proud father to my incredible son Cullen.  I am a Lifetime Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and a member of Plainfield Lodge #653 F.& A.M..

Having been on a Wounded Warriors In Action adventure I am truly honored to be an Associate of this organization.  Having this opportunity to continue serving my country in this way is a blessing!  One of the best ways to enjoy the freedom we have as Americans is in the great outdoors that our great country has to offer!  I continually look forward to every opportunity I have to serve this organization and in so serve our Wounded Warriors and grow as an individual.  LET’S DO IT!
