My name is Jeremy Lake, I was born and raised in York PA. I joined the Untied States Marine Corps in 2004 right out of high school. I went to Boot camp in South Carolina Parris Island. After completing Basic I went to the School of Infantry in North Carolina. After completing The School of Infantry I received orders to 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines out of Camp Lejeune. Not long after I got to the fleet I deployed on my first deployment to Iraq which was in early 2005. On that deployment I received my first Purple Heart from injuries sustained from a suicide bomber. When I got back from the deployment I received orders to MARSOC for a trailer Platoon and did my second deployment to Afghanistan in 2007. When I returned from that deployment I re-enlisted for another 4 years and I received orders to The Basic School in Quantico VA, to teach officers the basic tactics of an Infantry Leader. During this time I met my wife Leah and fell in love and we had our first boy in 2009. After completing my Orders to the Basic School, we returned back to North Carolina Camp Lejeune to 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines where shortly after I deployed back to Afghanistan as a Police Advisor in 2011. On this deployment I received my second Purple Heart from injuries sustained from an IED blast. When I returned from the deployment I received orders to 3rd Battalion 9th Marines for another Police Advisor Team and Deployed back to Afghanistan in 2012. During this deployment my wife had given birth to our 2nd son. When I returned from this deployment my Injuries started to get worst and I was given orders to Wounded Warrior Battalion where I received care. During this time I stayed active with the Battalion and Regiment competing in different events like the Marine Corps Trials and the Warrior Games. In 2014 I was nominated for Recovery Service Member of the Year. And In 2015 I was Medically Retired from the Marine Corps.
