Specialist Damon W Shontell

SPC Damon Wade Shontell was born in Mobile, Alabama on the 27th of August, 1987. He graduated from Alma Bryant High School in 2006. He enlisted into the United States Army in January 2006 and attended Military Police Training OSVT at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in June 2006. After completion of OSVT, SPC Shontell was transferred to Fort Hood, TX where he was stationed with the 64th Military Police Company, serving as a driver and gunner. the 64th Military Police Company received the order to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on 11 May 2007. SPC Shontell honorably deployed for 15 months with the 64th Military Police Company until 27 July 2008.

He returned to Fort Hood, TX for another 12 months before transferring to 17th Military Police Detachment at Fort Jackson, SC on 13 July 2009. He continued to serve at Fort Jackson as a Military Policeman. He attended Special Reaction Team training, and his awards include Army Commendation Meda (1 OLC) Army Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
