2020 NC OBX Waterfowl Hunt

Words cannot explain the gratitude, nor can they express the great time that I had not only on the hunt, but the whole trip. This community is like nothing I have ever seen. They have accepted all of us with open arms and truly treated us like family. This trip was and will always be a great memory.

Words are not enough. What you all do is beyond healing. I immediately felt the brotherhood and fellowship and it is something that I have missed and needed. Thank you for helping me reconnect. There is nothing in this world that can be compared to the bonds that are created when men go to war, walk and chew the same dirt, sweat and bleed, laugh and cry. This I am forever thankful for, the brotherhood. Thank you for the incredible opportunity these past few days. I will remember this until all of time is done. Keep the fire and passion going strong, reconnect as many as you can, your passion is awe inspiring. Thank you! All my best. Fraternally yours.

I cannot thank your organization or people enough for all of your hospitality. I have had a great first duck hunting experience and plan on doing more duck hunting in the future. The opportunity to meet and hunt with these Warriors was almost therapeutic. I cannot wait to tell all of my friends about your organization.

-P. Hernandez, USMC

Thank you so much for blessing me with the opportunity to go on this trip. I have been a duck hunter ever since I got out of the Army. It was a way for me to deal with some of the things I went through. Now I had the opportunity to duck hunt with fellow Wounded Warriors. This experience has been outstanding. The “southern hospitality” that was on display is beyond all expectation. I even had a chance to eat grits! Being from Minnesota, I was worried I would be looked at as an outsider, that was never the case. Not one bit. I thank you again for everything. This trip has been the trip of a lifetime!

2020 SW Ohio Waterfowl

Thank you to WWIA for this opportunity to come to this event and reconnect with my brother James Irwin. It was so long ago we met and now we are brothers for life. Your Guides and staff were the best. Stu, you and Josh are the shit. I think if you guys were not here it would not have been fun, good people, big hearts. Thank you and don’t forget to “buckle”. Hope to see you again.

I haven’t really had this much fun in years, being able to hang out and hunt with other veterans and volunteers eager to help a group of new hunters. The weekend was a really great weekend of camaraderie and hunting. Even if Jake did miss our only duck at 20 feet. This program is better than any I have seen for combat vets either within the DOD or private sector.

-R. Warren, USMC

Thank you to WWIA and all of the volunteers that coordinate, host and execute the event. The camaraderie and brotherhood were felt every step of the way. The hunting was great but the bonding over the weekend was second to none.

2020 Russell AL Deer

This trip has been like no other hunt I have been on! The food was awesome! I am a fat guy, so I know a thing or two about food! The hunting was also next to none. But the thing that made this trip like no other was the deer camp. There is just something about a campfire that brings people together. As I leave here today, I feel like I am leaving family behind. With that said, thank you for the invitation!

-E. Reed, USMC

This hunt was the hunt of a lifetime and has helped me in more ways than one. The escape from the struggles back home is more than me and my family could ever ask for.

-M. Underwood, USMC

This trip has been awesome. I feel very lucky to have been selected to come. The food was good. The people are a different breed, but it absolutely made the trip. Where else can you kill everything you see? But the best part is spending time with other vets with similar experiences. I hope to keep in touch.

I wanted to say thank you to you, all of Wounded Warriors in Action, and everyone involved with putting together last weekend’s hunt. That trip helped me tremendously and helped me escape the struggles I have been having lately at home, at work, and with my service related injuries. I was recently diagnosed with reduced heart function, on top of all of my other injuries at 28 years old, and that has had me anxious since they can’t find out what is causing it. Spending time with other combat wounded veterans, shooting and dragging deer out of the woods, and shooting hogs in the swamp last weekend made me completely forget about all of my daily challenges and anxiety. Again, thank you for sending me on the hunt of a lifetime and bringing me out of the funk I have been in lately.

What a fabulous time. Thank you so much. Everyone was so kind. Unbeatable weekend.

From start to finish I have been highly impressed with how this hunt went. The Guides were friendly and willing to do their best to make this experience the best they could. It was organized and there was very little down time, which made it an amazing hunt weekend. Tim, you did an awesome job as our Guide. You wrangled the group in when it was needed, but still allowed us to enjoy ourselves. I will forever remember this hunting weekend. I would like to thank you and WWIA.

Hands down one of the best events I have ever been on! I can’t thank everyone enough for this opportunity. The pre-planning and execution were impressive. Keep up the great work you all are doing. Thank you again for everything.

Blown away by this event! I don’t think I have ever hunted with a greater group of guys. Not only did I have a great time, I walked away with a wealth of knowledge not only in hunting but in life as well. As far as our WWIA Guide Tim, you guys have yourself a man that is passionate about the organization, willing to go the extra mile for us guys and makes you feel like part of the group that is hosting you. 2019 was a bad year for me. I kept telling myself that things in 2020 will be better. I wasn’t wrong, this trip is exactly what I needed. I couldn’t have dreamed how much I would be taking back with me, the knowledge and great memories. I am grateful for the opportunity to do this, WWIA really knows how to put on a great time, thank you.

2020 Long Leaf AL Deer and Quail Hunt

I recently had the privilege of hunting whitetail deer and quail in Southern Alabama with Wounded Warriors in Action (Long Leaf Whitetail Deer and Quail Hunt). I am grateful to Andy, Joe, Archie, and the McMillan family for giving me this opportunity. Andy and Archie are highly knowledgeable about the property, as well as the patterns of the animals. Using those skills, they were able to put me in the position to harvest two beautiful whitetail deer. The guided quail hunt was equally amazing. Birds were everywhere! Everyone involved in my trip went out of their way to accommodate my needs and make me feel welcome. The cabin/house is great, I was very comfortable, and had amazing meals while I stayed there. The feeling of camaraderie and the friendships I made on this trip will last a lifetime. I highly recommend the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation to any veteran looking for the opportunity to heal through being outdoors.

Let me begin by saying from the bottom of my heart, thank you! I was blessed with a great military service. After retiring from the Army, I had a very negative outlook on life. Feeling like my life had been ripped from under my feet. I fell into a horrible place. Thanks to the hard work of WWIA and its generous network of family, this event has been like a soul rejuvenation. I know these are only the words I am thinking at this moment. It is just a glimpse into the huge unforgettable experience this hunt has been for me. Thank you to WWIA and for everything the McMillan family has done to help. This message is only a small amount of the gratitude I have for everyone who helps to make these events happen. Our Guide Derrick shot straight with me, helped me to focus on who I am, so that my perceptions do not prevent me from being the leader I am in my community. Thank you! Please continue the good mission you all are doing because you change lives.

It is definitely I who should be thanking you! Your organization is a tremendous example of human dignity embossed in the spirit of giving so that others may have an edge in healing alongside and with their peers! Your thoughtfulness and kindness are to be admired. I will continue to give my small gift for as long as possible, so that you too can continue to help old soldiers like me and my brothers and sisters!
If you ever come across a good Whitetail deer hunt and need an old Vietnam Vet to be your point man and Medic, please reach out to me! The years are catching up with me but my spirit to hunt the elusive Whitetail is still strong.
God Bless you and this great country. Stay safe…. And again, thank you for what you do.

2020 Alaska Halibut

What a trip! I have not had so much fun and laughed so hard for a week straight in a very long time. John, Joe, and Jeanette have been wonderful Hosts and I am extremely grateful for their hospitality. Every single day topped the day before. Every time I thought this trip could not get any better, it did, From the amazing fishing to the whales, orcas, sea lions, porpoise, bald eagles, mountain goats, islands and bays; this place is amazing. Thank you to all that made it happen.

C. Spicher, USAF

I haven’t had this much fun in many years, if ever. I could not have been around a better bunch of guys and awesome Guide. Joe and John are stand up people and are very generous. I wish there was something that I could do to repay them. Our WWIA Guide was a blast to be around and very helpful. This trip checked all of the boxes, from catching a lot of fish to seeing a glacier to whales. Got the full exposure to Alaska. Above all being around like-minded veterans gave me hope again that there are people that know what I am going through. Thank you WWIA and Derrick for giving an old veteran new hope. Wish we could have found a place that had gourmet chicken wings.

This was an amazing trip. This was something I needed, a break away from work and connecting with people that understand what you have gone through. I didn’t realize how peaceful it was out on the ocean and how much it relaxes you. The fishing was good, and the Hosts were amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reenergizing my batteries again.

T. O’Brien, US Army

Wow! That’s all I can really say. This was the best fishing I have ever experienced. The group of vets were amazing. John, Joe and Jeanette are incredible. Their hospitality and expertise were tip notch. WWIA put together an amazing opportunity for us. The food, lodging and people made this trip one of my most memorable fishing trips of my life. Seward, whales, fishing, great people, what more could you want? I highly recommend. Thank you to all involved.

2020 Lake Erie Walleye

What a great day in Ohio with a great group of guys (combat-wounded) walleye fishing. Started the day at 0700 on the water, by 0800 we had at least 10 fish in. Captain Mark and his long-time friend Bill were great, they knew exactly what they were doing. We also had the honor of fishing with their sons. Two very respectful and just great boys, 10 and 17 years old. We caught 29 great fish, and all had just one great time. The entire staff were great!

G. Patterson, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

There is no way I could ever say enough good things about WWIA. Here at Lake Erie it is amazing everyone involved is first class. All the volunteers that support the organization and the veterans taking time out of their busy lives to give to other veterans. I thank you. The camaraderie and caring hearts are what make this so special. Thank you.

R. Hinkle, US Army

Thank you for everything that has happened this weekend. I started off my writing like that because I feel we all are truly blessed to be able to meet up in fellowship this weekend. This weekend was a blast to attend. I met a lot of great people. All of the boat guides and captains treated us like kings. I could not have asked for anything better. I am PROUD to be a part of WWIA for life.

K. Patterson, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

I can’t even find the words to explain how great this event has been. WWIA and the Lake Erie team went above and beyond to make sure that us guys had a blast. I’m very humbled by all the boat captains that donated their time for us. I enjoyed the fellowship that the WWIA brings by having these events. I can’t wait to come back again. Thanks for everything.

J. Baldwin, USAF

This opportunity to explore Lake Erie was amazing. Frenchy, Bill, Larry, Mark and every single volunteer made this trip go off without a hitch and accommodated everyone’s needs and more. The fishing was great, and the food was delicious and abundant. I cannot explain the support from the Ashtabula community, the environment it created was absolutely inviting, welcoming and all around appreciated. This was a great experience and I would not hesitate to return in the future. Thank you for the opportunity.

C. McClanahan, US Army

Thank you WWIA for a great weekend. It was great to meet all the other vets from around the USA. Great men to talk to and great stories. I had a great time with all these young men. I am 79 years old, we had a great time. The Hosts Bill, Diane and Larry were wonderful to all of us vets.

B. Jamieson, US Army

Thank you to everyone that made this weekend such a great time! The Team Erie crew was amazing. The fishing was good, the food was great, and the volunteers were all amazing. I have never seen a community come together to support veterans the way this community has. I feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity to fellowship with veterans and patriots. You guys are doing it right! Thanks for everything, I will never forget this trip.

G. Herber, US Army

Wow! 2020 has been a horrible year for most Americans. I am a combat-wounded amputee, I know of roughly 12 veterans that have committed suicide since COVID-19 started to impact our lives. I write that to say that what you all do matters! This weekend means so much to the nine veterans that attended this year. This year more than any other we all truly needed this. Your generosity and hard work matter more than ever. Veterans need this, the camaraderie is indescribable. I love this town and this country. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

S. Nieman, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

They always say, “good teams find a way to win”. In this case Team Erie found a way to beat COVID-19, COVID restrictions, BLM, Antifa, political bashing and poor weather conditions to “win” a piece of normalcy for nine Wounded Warriors. This event’s experience was needed by every Warrior, Host, volunteer and guide. It helped restore Warrior’s faith in society and people overall. Fishing was phenomenal and being forced off Lake Erie due to a small craft advisory just solidified this event’s resolve and the deep impact it has on everyone involved. We can’t thank Team Erie enough! With great respect and admiration.

This was an amazing trip; I can’t thank you all enough. I had several firsts on this trip. This was my first bear hunt and I saw my first bear in the wild, my first fisher and first black squirrel. Everyone was so amazing; it was the trip of a lifetime. Thank you.

2020 NH Bear and Bass

Best hunting trip I’ve ever been on! I’ve done wounded warrior events but never with other Purple Heart recipients only. Great being with other vets that have been through the same ordeals I’ve been through. Everyone here was encouraging and helpful. Never felt like I wasn’t welcome or not part of the group. I can’t wait for my next WWIA event. This event came at a great time of need. Helped me through a rough time.

2020 Bear camp was an amazing experience. Everyone was extremely welcoming. I didn’t shoot a bear but sitting in God’s country was so relaxing and cleared my mind. I made some lifelong friends and brothers. This trip will be one I never forget. Thanks so much.

2020 Saltgrass Fishing

Had a wonderful time with the other WWIA participants and other guests. Our host was very gracious and accommodating. The facilities were first rate and the food was very well prepared. I would recommend Saltgrass Outdoors to anyone who wants to fish, rest and enjoy great companionship.

Just a quick note that despite the weather and early departure this was an excellent weekend with great people.
Lodge/Guides = excellent
Hosts = awesome
Associate = excellent.
Even though we didn’t get to fish like we hoped, you’re entire team continuously went the extra mile.

Man, this trip was a total soup sandwich as far as fishing went due to weather/hurricane! But seriously, it was a great event with great people. Mark and Rock together is a great time

2020 Eagle River Muskie

I’m not much of a fisherman and it showed on this trip. I didn’t catch a single fish, but had an awesome time. My Guide was a blast to hang out with and talk to and I learned a lot. The group out her was incredible and had so much love to share, not to mention all the SWAG. The best part of this trip was being able to reconnect other vets and BS until the wee hours of the morning. It was an absolutely amazing experience.

E. Olson, USMC
Purple Heart Recipient

This trip showed me that patriotism still exists. The community of Eagle River was nothing but amazing as were the Hosts. The fishing itself was amazing. I have never been up north and fished before. The Veterans in this group were amazing and we had deep conversations and became close and shared stories I will remember forever.

J. Grubbs, USMC
Purple Heart Recipient

Thank you so much for all you guys do. It is so amazing being able to get together with fellow veterans from all era’s and being able to socialize with individuals with similar experiences. As a single Mom with 3 kids, I never get away and have time to vacation. So, these few days away remind me of why I love my country so much. This entire town came together to make a few veterans feel loved. Thank you!

M. Rogers, US Army

This trip will go down as one of my most positive memories. My Guide, Bill J. did an amazing job of teaching this old har head the tricks needed to land a beautiful Muskie. May God Bless you for what you do for us.

P. Shook, USMC

This trip was absolutely amazing! I’ve never seen a community of such wonderful people who care about Veterans the way the Eagle River people do. I will never forget this awesome event. Even though I did not catch a fish, I will leave here with so much knowledge and memories to last a lifetime. Thank you so much to WWIA and the Eagle River Muskie Guides for putting together this incredible event.

C. Rowe, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

First and foremost, I would like to thank the community of Eagle River. The amount of generous, gracious hospitality and welcoming from the lot of them was mind blowing. I came on this trip thinking what this organization can do for me. I am leaving with a purpose I have searched for years for. A way to honor my lost brothers, WWIA is that for me. I am beyond honored to be chosen for this trip. It has changed my outlook not only for what it means to be a Veteran but more so what it means to be a good person. To my Guide, Muskie Bob Jacobs, thank you for the opportunity and honor of joining you on your boat. I truly cannot express how much you now mean to me. The sponsors, organizers, cooks, servers, town…everyone. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I was not doing very well and this trip has literally saved my life. My fellow Warriors it was an honor to meet you guys. We tend to forget we have support all over this country, we always have an outlet. We are never too far gone, we matter! I was lucky enough and honored to catch 3 Muskie, a noble and elusive fish. I look forward to many more years of helping, listening, and teaching my brothers and sisters in arms. Thank you all again. I know I am leaving people out, but you will forever be a part of my family.

2020 SD Pheasant

Sent via email
I want to start by saying thank you so much! This past weekend in SD was incredible. Jon, and Jordan were incredible, and I can’t say enough about Brad and Julie. I wasn’t sure what to expect and went into it a little hesitant due to experiences with other organizations, but that went away very quickly. If there are any other hunts that I could be a part of please let me know. Also, if there is anything that WWIA needs I would be happy to help out.
Thank you again!

Saying thank you is not enough for inviting me on this pheasant hunt. This has been a trip of a lifetime. Being here with men and women that I can talk to without my civilian filter has rejuvenated my soul. Everyone at the lodge has been amazing. I plan to stay in touch with Brad and Julie. Frenchy and Jordan have been awesome Guides and new friends. This trip har really recharged my soul being in such a wonderful country with terrific fellow veterans. Thank you!

J. Winget, US Army

What an amazing weekend! Thank you for all you do for WWIA and for veterans. The hunt was a lifetime experience but what sticks out in my mind, the break between hunts, gathering around the gator, fellowshipping with our brothers and sister, the smiles and laughter echoing forever in my memory. Love the time around the campfire going over our hunts, sharing our service stories, making fun of other services and each other.

A. Acosta, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

These things are always hard to write and describe and “thank you” seems somewhat lacking. But you know when folks say a simple thank you or thank you for your service, not much more needs to be said, really! So, thank you from the heart of this Vietnam Vet! This feels like the welcome home we never were blessed with. To everyone at Grand Ciel Lodge, Brad, Julie and the kids you guys are special. To WWIA Guides, Jon and Jordan, nice job! To WWIA, you can count on me as a supporter from here on. You are making a difference one vet at a time.

G. Kvale, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This trip was amazing! I have been on other trips for wounded vets and have always felt as if I was being used as a fundraising tool. This trip was very different. Everyone involved was amazing and I am excited at the possibility of joining another trip. Grand Ciel Lodge is amazing, and I want to let everyone know you are all something special. Thank you for all the hospitality and hopefully I can make it out here again for another hunt.

M. Church, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

Once again, I can’t thank you enough! Grand Ciel is always amazing and continues to get better. Just over the couple of years I’ve been coming here, the improvements have been tremendous. Frenchy, I personally want to thank you for showing me the ropes. Becoming a Guide was a big step for me. I struggled with socializing before. When I see the respect people have for you, it makes me strive to be more like you. Thank you for being such a great mentor. I am happy to call you a friend. With great respect.

J. Bondurant, US Army

It feels like coming home every time I visit the Grand Ciel Lodge. Meeting other Warriors and sharing stories, knowledge and the hunting experience is incredible. Brad, Julie, Corey, Drew, Shea and friends are so extremely generous, kind and accommodating that it allows all of us the opportunity to breathe, relax and enjoy our lives, military brothers/sisters and America’s finest. I greatly appreciate Brad, Julie and the Grand Ciel. It is a pleasure to also bear witness time in and time out to all of the Warrior’s lives the Boisen family and friends have impacted. I am thankful to be a part of this organization and have the Boisen family in our lives. Forever grateful and humbled.

2020 Bayfield Cast & Blast

I had the fish/hunt of a lifetime. The fishing was amazing! I caught a 40” Muskie! I saw 49 deer in a field at once. The people, food and community were amazing.
R. Reidelbaugh, USMC

This trip was a reminder of why all of us signed that check and sacrificed so much. Between the folks organizing the event to the supporting community and my fellow brothers in arms, it is times like this that give us a reminder of what being an American is all about. As reclusive as I am, I did not feel the slightest bit of awkwardness with anyone involved and for a brief moment I let my demons of war subside. The fishing and hunting were secondary to the therapy. Thank you WWIA and everyone involved.

C. Phipps, US Army
Purple Heart Recipient

This Bayfield Cast & Blast is about the best thing I thought I would be doing in October. When Corrina called, my wife and I were out grocery shopping. I think my wife beat me to saying “Yes, Yes, he is going”. Evidently, she believed I really needed this, and boy was she right. Getting together with other guys that love to hunt and fish is really good anyway. When you make it a bunch of beat up combat troopers, for me that is home. Within 12 hours everyone was talking like old friends and that includes the WWIA staff and the community in the area. Combat vets are probably the humblest people I’ve ever known and to have my brothers in arms recognized and appreciated means everything to me. The love that was given here reminds me of why I joined up. It makes it all worthwhile. I have a renewed sense of purpose, and a refreshed sense of hope. My words can never express how much this meant to me. Special thanks to Chris and Brenda Diesing and especially to my Guide and brother in arms, Jim. You guys are the best!

E. Haines, US Army

Absolutely amazing weekend. Jason was the most unselfish, thoughtful guide and now friend. He set me up for success and I was able to get the biggest buck of my life and the first with a bow. We didn’t find him until the next day, which happened to be 3 years to the day that Jason’s Dad, Roger died. He was the reason I got to come up on this hunt, with his donations. Everything happens for a reason and this is proof. Thank you WWIA for providing me and the other Purple Heart Vets the gift of hunting, spending time in the woods and camaraderie. Thanks to all of the Delta folks for the hospitality, especially Jimmy and Laurie for an amazing cabin and food. Rangers lead the way!

2020 ND Pheasant Hunt

Garrison, ND hunt has been a wonderful hunt. There are not really any words to describe it. The people are awesome. The hunt was so relaxing and fun that it was therapeutic. I was impressed by how all the people treated us like family. I can’t thank everyone enough. It was well above and beyond. It was also wonderful to make lifelong friends on a once in a lifetime trip like this. Special thanks to Roy, Lance, and Derek and all of the rest involved.

J. Biggerstaff, US Army

The hunt in Garrison has been one of the most enjoyable hunts of my life. From the community to my fellow warriors, it was awesome! I have made lifelong friends and am looking forward to talking with them for years to come.

M. Cantrell, US Army

I have never been on an organized hunt before. I have also never been to a Veteran’s appreciation event. So, I came into this a bit apprehensive. From the moment Corrina at WWIA contacted me, I felt cared for and comfortable. The town of Garrison rolled out the red carpet. From Scheels outfitting us to farmers opening up their property, to hunters taking us out, giving us guns to use, running dogs and helping us be successful. Vince, Chip, Scott and the guys who took me out and helped me get pheasant and be outdoors in beautiful North Dakota. I am beyond words at how I feel about WWIA and the City of Garrison, thanks so much, you are family!

2020 Camp Hackett A

One of the coldest October’s in history this early. I had the time of my life. I was blessed to hunt on Don Angelo’ great farm for deer, a very blessed, God fearing family. I got to goose hunt with Casey and all his great friends and was blessed to hunt grouse with the Deleasky brothers. The community is so awesome and support WWIA with all their heart. The fellow soldiers were all like brothers and I was able to meet and hunt with three old Rangers from Ranger regiment and meet a Ranger Hall of Famer. I am so blessed to know all of these great Americans and to John and Art, brothers for life. Rangers Lead the Way.

D. Kiel, US Army

Coming out to Camp Hackett and meeting all my brothers in arms was awesome! John, the Founder is an exceptional man. Jake Whipkey is an awesome man and great Guide. Getting to meet all the friends of Camp Hackett was outstanding! From the food, the great personalities and warm hugs and handshakes, this world is a great place with more people like this. Getting to hunt on Mr. Don Angelo’s place was great. Exceptional! God fearing people and great family. Thank you! I was able to make new friends and mew memories to last me a lifetime! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

P. Martinez, US Army

Over the last few years, I began to understand the power of memories and the joy that they can bring to you during dark times. Wounded Warriors in Action is a Foundation that provides those memories to men that desperately need them. The bonds that are created while making these memories and the men and women who support WWIA are heroes in my book. Jake, John, Art, Casey, Steve, Don, Isaac, Jeff, Pat, the Deleasky brothers and everyone that I forgot to mention, thank you for adding to the good memories I can tap into to pull myself out of those dark places. God Bless you and your families.

2020 Camp Hackett B

Absolutely an incredible experience! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be on this trip. The Northwoods are wonderful. Growing up, my family or my Dad and I would always come up this way for fishing trips. I cherish these memories and now have gotten to create new memories with a different family. WWIA is a phenomenal organization that has helped re-center my focus and reignite my passion for the outdoors. The support and service from all of the volunteers was incredible to see. I am truly thankful for their service in helping make it all possible. The chance to fish and hunt is a unique lifetime opportunity. However, I was significantly by the relationships developed and making new friends, especially Mark and Paul who also served in 2/75. It was great to have all Rangers. I feel more whole and refreshed from this experience, it helped me to slow down and reevaluate my priorities. None of this would have been possible without John and Art. Their patience, hard work, and dedication undoubtedly makes this all possible. Thank you for being incredible people and continuing to serve. Our veterans and their families need it. I hope this experience can be as impactful to someone else as it was for me. Thank you. 2/75 RLTW!

What an amazing experience! I was at first having difficulty even applying for a hunt as I felt undeserving of it given that I have been out of the service for some time and that I have it pretty well off at home and work. It wasn’t until I met John and Art that I realized that I had been missing something all of these years, being away from soldiers. The best part of this experience was to once again have the opportunity to live amongst giants. Meeting Rangers who had been there and made it through in the earlier times again rekindled that feeling that I had been missing for so long. It was like seeing your family again after being gone for an extended period of time, even though I did not previously know anyone on the trip. Over the past few days, I can truthfully say that I once again felt normal and was able to be my true self around others that shared a similar perspective. It was an honor and a privilege to attend this and I am truly grateful for all of those who both support and run this organization. RLTW!

Amazing, it was a great experience, this mission. The folks out here truly showed their love and dedication to us Veterans. John and Art did an awesome job of making sure we had anything we needed for this event. The hunting was hard yet fun. However, the experience was priceless. The time and effort put into this event was great and I am honored to be a part of it. Being able to hunt with men who all served in my unit 2/75 was a treat in itself. I hope on the next mission the men and women get what I was able to get out of this mission. Thank you very much.

2020 Kuneytown D & B

I would say I had an amazing time up there on that hunting trip with Keith, Scott, and Eric and their families. Right from the start they made me feel comfortable and welcomed to be there. The hunting was amazing, it was very easy for me to get in and out of the hunting area because it was very flat land, hills give me problems with my back. The deer there were awesome, and it was only my fault I didn’t get a buck. Keith, Scott, and Eric were great to be with, all of them were very supportive and had amazing knowledge to share. Their families were the same way, they were all very supportive and accommodating of everything, they all went out of their way. The banquet and the community that were able to attend due to COVID were all great, the food always delicious. I had kind of lost interest in the last couple years in hunting, but this group of people really have me interested in hunting again and I’m hoping I can get back up there sometime to hunt with them again. I am hoping to buy a crossbow in the next year. Thank you and WWIA for that amazing hunting trip. I needed that 5 days away a lot more then I really realized at the time. I have been spreading the word to everyone I know about WWIA and hoping more people donate to you because I know I will.

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t hesitate. The people that ran the event and the community came and took us in like we were one of their own. Truly felt like being back in again. The determination to not see me fail and the woods goes hand in hand for them. It has been a very long time since I had no worries or concerns. I was able to shut my brain off and just enjoy great people and my love for hunting. Thanks again, best week in a very long time.

2020 Naples NY VFW Deer Hunt

I would like to thank WWIA for the opportunity ti hunt. I had an amazing time with the guys and meeting everybody upon arrival. The Hosts Glen and Rick make you feel very welcome. The time spent with everyone has been amazing. We showed up as fellow vets, leaving WWIA with a sense of family. Thank you.

I could never give enough thanks for this amazing trip. From the planning phase to execution. Seeing a real OPORD kicked out was amazing. I had to show my veteran wife, so we joked when I was Redcon 1 for departure! Once I made it to camp, everything was so well planned. The Naples VFW and the Town of Naples made sure we were well taken care of. Hosts, Rick and Glen always had us on deer. The highlight of the trip was seeing the brotherly comedy displayed between Glen and Rick. The jokes we shared; the stories will never be forgotten. Thank you again WWIA for the outstanding trip. I hope one day I can provide this type of trip for other veterans.

2020 W. PA Archery Deer

The trip was awesome. I haven’t been able to hang out with any combat-veterans in a while.
The Bevevino family are wonderful people. They welcomed us like family. All of the guides were great. I extremely appreciate that they donated their time. The trip helped me to be able to open up and be able to relax. All I can say is thank you to all that are involved in WWIA.

I wanted to first thank you for letting me attend this event. This event was amazing, and I can say hands down, a trip of a life time. Being on this trip definitely recharged the batteries for myself and really helped me mentally. It really helped me understand and realize that we are not alone in this. Once again, I thank you for letting me attend this event and I want you to know that these memories and friendships will never fade.

This past week’s hunt in Rural Valley, PA was a fun filled, entertaining and an amazing experience. From day 1, upon arrival to the farm, we were greeted with open arms, care and delight. Dan and his wife Susan are the kindest and humbling couple I have met in a long time. They gave that feeling of “welcome home”, that was such a warm feeling. The hospitality that was poured onto us not only from Dan and his family but also from the guides and volunteers was amazing. We could see that they were thrilled and excited to be part of the hunt. Laughing and enjoying each other’s company was a big factor for me. I haven’t laughed that much in a long time.
One thing I did enjoy was the amount of Warriors on the event. Being that it was a small group, it let you be able to get to know the other Warriors and make connections. Knowing that we could share feelings and thoughts between us, gave that feeling of understanding amongst each other.
I truly enjoyed the opportunity that WWIA, Dan and his family gave me. I have made new friends and new memories and I thank everyone.

I cannot show the appreciation nor explain how grateful I am for this experience. Hunting PA was an amazing experience that I would have never experienced on my own. The group of guys I was with made it all that much better. The camaraderie and healing amongst the vets were recharging and refreshing. The Host, Dan, and his family were amazing in taking care of and over-feeding us. The lodge was perfect along with the property. The guides were fantastic and great at getting us on deer and there was never a dull moment in the stand. Deer came and went, bucks chasing does, and turkeys coming in to feed on the plots. It was just the thing I needed to recharge my batteries and pique my interest in deer hunting again after so many years of just duck hunting. I have several NEW lifelong brothers that we will get together and make it a yearly thing to hunt together.
Thank you WWIA, John McDaniel, Corrina Hart, Wesley Black, Todd Ridle, and Dan Bevevino and his family.

This hunt was great. Great people, location, food and camaraderie. This WWIA family is the best in the world. The therapy that this did for my body cannot be explained. Thank you for everything. I cannot wait to give back. Thank you everyone that helped out.

This year has been a hell of a year for all. Living with a pandemic, election and American’s fighting really separated me from the outside world. When Corrina called me I was doubtful about even coming. However, with a little push from friends and family, I came out to hunt. It was the best decision of my life. I’ve met amazing people, witnessed a beautiful environment and tagged some beefy hogs. This trip has given me great insight into giving back to the community. I will be reaching out to Mark and the fine people of this community to see how I can give back. I have made lifelong friends and family this weekend.

This hunting trip was absolutely amazing. It wasn’t even the hunt but all the men and women who make this trip possible. From the first moment we arrived these people made us feel like royalty. I’ve been to 50star resorts before and they have nothing on the Murphy’s and all their friends and family. We ate like kings the whole trip. It is sad to be leaving here but I find comfort in knowing that I have made friends for life. Thank you WWIA for everything. I hope to be able to do another event in the future.

This has been an absolutely amazing time. Every single person that supported and put this event together was an amazing human. From the moment you show up everyone completely brings you in and treats you like family. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to attend such a great event with such great Americans. I will remember this for the rest of my life. You all are forever a new part of my family.

This event has been the best time I’ve had all year. Since COVID hit my wife was diagnosed with Lupus and has been very sick to the point she had to quit working. My Mom’s sickness has worsened to the point she needed a feeding tube put in to help her. I’ve been so stressed out about everything; I have not had the chance to relax and get my mind off things. These past 4 days have been a dream to me. I can’t believe that I got to meet some of the best people I’ve ever met. Everyone has treated me with so much love, it felt so great to be here. I got to hunt great deer and ducks. I am so excited to get to harvest my dream Kansas buck. I got to harvest a wood duck that I’ve been after for the past 5 years. Rodney Stephenson gave me his wood duck mount to take home with me. The gifts that everyone gave us were awesome. I am eternally grateful for everything you all have offered me. A time to just relax and take everything in. A time of peace, love and friendships. Thank you for bringing me back to my old self. Much Love.

This event has been a bucket list box for me for a very long time. Because of my disabilities I was very hesitant in attempting to go anywhere on my own. The generosity and compassion shown by the volunteers was unforgettable. The camaraderie and experiences were one of a kind and these too I will never forget. Because of my PTSD I am always looking for new coping mechanism’s and this team and organization has given me another reason to keep my head up and to keep moving forward. I’m so thankful for this event and the experience I’ve been blessed with.

It would be impossible to write into words on this page what this weekend has meant to me. From the moment I arrived, the love and support I felt was overwhelming. There are few in this world that will ever have the opportunity to experience the unselfish gratitude that was felt here this weekend. With all the hate and madness in this world today, it is a true blessing to have this experience. It was so much fun and relaxing to spend the weekend with so many amazing people that love and care so much for veterans. I was able to learn the skill of trapping and I am so excited to continue trapping and to share the experience with my children! Thank you very much for this opportunity, I can assure you this has been so life enriching for me and in turn for my family. This makes me a better husband and father.

To the Real Heroes of WWIA, The Marine Corps always uses that Ronald Reagan quote of people wondering if they’ve made a difference in the world and Marines not having that problem. But in all honesty, if there was ever any doubt in your mind if you made a difference, I can tell you know to remove that doubt. We keep getting called Hero on this trip, but in reality, you all are the Heroes. You all are the ones on the road, away from family, breaking your backs, giving up your time and bending over backward to make sure that guys like me, that are just regular guys who were put in crappy situations, are given a chance to take a few days to put all of that behind us and just enjoy doing the same things as each other. There are not words to express how much I appreciate everything you all have done and are willing to do to make sure we enjoyed every second of this event, even with all of this COVID stuff going on, you all showed that all of this meant more to you and just as much as it did to us. I could have had just as good a time if I didn’t see a single animal. Just to sit around and hang out with other veterans and you guys. From the food, hospitality, generosity and sacrifices you guys have made to make this happen. I will forever be indebted to you. Thank you so much and I truly hope that karma catches up with you to reward you guys for the trip of a lifetime you have given us.

What an amazing trip and group of guys! I can’t say enough about the people here. I had a great time getting to know the men. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this hunt in Tennessee.

Amazing time with amazing people! Thank you all for your service and for your sacrifice. You all are and will always be Heroes.

What an awesome experience! The property is so well managed and is absolutely gorgeous! It was only outdone by the hospitality of Mr. Dennis and Ms. Shelley! Between the accommodations, the friendly help, the food, I honestly could not pick one thing that made this experience so great. I could easily see the amount of time, work and effort that the Hosts put in to set up this experience. Truly stunned, amazed and appreciative of all the effort that went into this hunt. Jason, our Guide was truly second to none! Thank everyone so much!
