2021 NC OBX

I had an awesome time at the NC OBX Waterfowl event. All elements of the event were professionally attended to and all involved were courteous and professional. Many ducks were harvested, many stories were told, and much food was enjoyed! I had a great time meeting new people and exchanging hunting and military stories. This event was superb and the WWIA staff are outstanding! Thank you.

Thank you Currituck for a fantastic time. Being back around my fellow combat wounded veterans was a blessing. The communities outpouring has not waivered even during these COVID times. I am grateful and thankful for the opportunity. Every minute counted.

What a truly special place here. The entire community came together even during these difficult times of uncertainty to show their appreciation for us. No matter how many thank you’s we say it will never be enough. Everyone here goes above and beyond. It is very humbling to be able to share a duck blind and a dinner table with the folks here. Spending time afield with my brothers and being able to talk about anything, even the most personal of issues really helps alleviate some stress. Thank you to Tim Spence and all of the Currituck family here.

In a time and place of relative uncertainty due to COVID politics and division amongst people, I am relieved to get invited to come to a town that exemplifies America. I felt like family from day one to departure. I have been on a few WWIA hunts and this one is hands down the most well organized and well run one I have been on. Everyone in this town lives for this event, to support the wounded vets of this Nation. Thanks goes out to Tim Spence, and his Currituck family for this fantastic trip. Thank you is just not enough. A special shout out to Ms. Brooke for being awesome and being Tim’s go to for the community.

This was my 5th time helping out at the Currituck event. As always, it was an awesome event. Wind, rain and cold made for a good hunt. Thank you to my good friend Tim Spence for helping me to become a duck hunter and enabling me to add 3 ring necks and another swan to my bag.

2021 SW Ohio Ducks and Bucks Hunt

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to hang out with like-minded dudes. I don’t keep many friends, so these events keep me involved with the veteran community and civilian people who really appreciate us. Thanks for providing me with a great time.

This trip was simply amazing. It exceeded all my expectations. The support staff did everything in their power to make sure all the guys had a blast and to make memories that will last a lifetime. This trip, for me, was way more than just hunting…the time away from my normal life and being around fellow veterans has given me a much-needed break! I haven’t been able to truly cut loose and relax in months; this trip was exactly what I needed, and I am eternally grateful

Once again, amazing trip! The people here are second to none and very giving. The hunting did not always work out, but the brotherhood and fellowship trumped it anyways. This was my 2nd trip with the foundation and reminded why this foundation is the best of the best. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be on this trip and look forward to working with the foundation in the future.

First trip with this organization. Was absolutely amazing. The band that was quietly established made this trip very special and fun. Hunting was great and very accommodating. The support was second to none, SO selfless and giving it, going above and beyond. Thank you for everything. Hope future hunting or fishing can happen.

This trip exceeded all expectations coming here. I was in the Army just shy of 10 years and had multiple combat deployments. I can personally attest to the trips saving lives of veterans struggling… because I was once one. Hunting and the brotherhood that is shared on these adventures is second to none and cannot be replicated. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to come out and be with like-minded individuals. Sappers lead the way!

2021 AR Ducks and Bucks Hunt

To say that this event was memorable would not be doing it justice. The hospitality Mr. French, his community and close friends showed us was truly humbling. They truly went above and beyond from the minute we arrived to maximize our opportunities at the “true Arkansas” experience. From the amazing duck hunting holes to the deer stands and plots to the intense and blood pumping hog hunt, we never had an idle moment and memories were made that will truly last a lifetime.

R. Kaster, USMC

This trip was awesome! I hadn’t been on a trip or to an event like this in a long time and it was just what the doctor ordered. The other Warriors and I all seemed to have an instant connection. Mr. French was an amazing Host. The Red Oak Plantation was non-stop action with amazing people and wonderful home cooked meals. The hunting was a blast, but the camaraderie and fellowship were what I enjoyed the most. Truly a trip I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you.

The hospitality was beyond top notch. Mr. French and his son along with several of his friends went above and beyond to provide us with the best experience we could ever have. The hog hunting is something I will probably never experience again in my lifetime. Great friends were made. Absolute awesome time! I will never forget the time I had here at Red Oak Plantation,

2021 AL Long Leaf Deer and Quail Hunt

I had an absolutely incredible time with the folks here in Bay Minette, AL! The McMillan family, the Hamilton/Davis Quail Preserve, and Joe Roland gave all of us an experience of a lifetime. I never hunted quail before, but it only took this trip for me to want a double barrel shotgun to hunt quail in my own state. It was great meeting some new, fellow LEO’s on this hunt as well. WWIA has been trying to get me on a hunt for a long time now, and I am very thankful they kept reconnecting with me. In doing so, I was able to hunt and form relationships that I hope will last for years to come. Thank you all for everything!

N. Lynn, US Army

Not knowing what to expect on this trip, it surpassed all my expectations. The Host and all the folks that supported the event made us feel right at home. The hunting was far beyond what I expected. I was not looking forward to not deer hunting and having to quail hunt instead. I had never quail hunted before and could not have asked for a better location to have my first time at it. The Guides and dogs are first class all the way. I am so glad that I said yes to this event when it was offered. The support staff at WWIA is amazing and does not get the credit they deserve.

It is difficult to put into words what an event like this does for someone that is trying to find normal again. There aren’t any words to explain or share how amazing and wonderful this place is and about the people that made it all happen. None that will do it justice anyway. Heaven on earth, a reprieve from the day to day headache and heartache of going through what “we” (anyone who has served) has gone through. Losing a buddy, missing family, seeing and hearing things that no one should. This event and place brings you back to being you again and reminds you of why you fought in the first place. Because of the people, places, love, respect, family, friends, God and country, which was all found right here in this place among these incredible and selfless people. I know many hands made this possible and I wish I could thank them all. Thank you for giving me something back I had lost and forgotten. Keep doing what you are doing, it truly makes a difference.

2021 DoubleCreek TN Turkey Hunt

A huge thank you to Shelley, Dennis, WWIA and WWIA Guides/Associates for all their hard work putting the turkey hunt together at Double Creek Ranch. Everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Every detail of the hunt was well thought out and executed. The property is beautiful and our Hosts were extremely kind. I would definitely recommend this experience to any combat wounded veteran who is in need of some R&R with wonderful people who will quickly become your friends. Thanks again for the great memories!

I had a great time on the three-day Turkey hunt in Tennessee. This was my first event with WWIA and I am impressed. The attention to detail by the organizers and the guides is that of people who value their mission and believe in the cause. I had the opportunity to harvest my first turkey ever which will always be an experience to remember. Thank you all for the effort and opportunity to be a part of the brotherhood of Veterans in a memorable hunt.

Thank you Corrina! Please thank everyone at WWIA for the opportunity. I had a really great time. My first hunting experience was fantastic. Although this was the first event I participated in that I didn’t catch any fish or kill anything hunting. Despite that Ted and Carl are truly wonderful folks and I still had a wonderful time. And I can tell it was tough for them that I went home empty handed. yet I reassured and thanked them with a wonderful positive attitude that the time spent with them was more valuable to me than anything they offer.

B. McCluskey, US Army

I would like to thank everyone who put this event together first and foremost. Thank you. To all the wonderful people seen and unseen. Thank you. You have all given me the gift of courage to continue fighting the darkness in the world. Meeting such warm and loving folks with huge hearts has been really amazing and very heart warming. My heart is swollen with joy. Thank you. I truly feel honored to carry the burden of war for this nation. The time spent hunting and fishing with like minded vets and civilians making deep human connections that will last the rest of my days is unbelievable. I will cherish these memories and incorporate them into my daily life. I feel connected to a massive community of support. I’m walking taller, got my chin up and my face has a golden glow and ahuge smile. The mission was a success. Thank you WWIA and community.

2021 WI C & B

The flight was long but when I arrived, I was met at the airport by Derek. We came to the hotel to drop off our luggage and then met Todd at the Log Cabin for dinner. The service there was great, and the food was perfect. After dinner we came back to the hotel to get rest before our 0330 wake up the next day to get out in the blind for the first day’s turkey hunt. My guide Mike was an amazing guide and made the time in the blind eventful with small talk and turkey hunting information. After hearing a few gobbles in the distance, the day got exciting. We were notified that everyone else had gotten their birds and we were only seeing hens, we started to get worried that we might not get a tom or a jake. I wasn’t too worried though, I was having a great time. We went back to Todd’s house for lunch and the food Dawn prepared was absolutely amazing. After eating we saw two toms fighting in the distance and tried to sneak up on them but were unsuccessful. We went back to the hotel and rested to come back later and try again. After sitting in the blind for an hour we started seeing hens and Mike made a few calls, then 3 jakes came out of the trees. They made their way towards us. As I got set, they got spooked and I had to shoot my turkey while he was on the run. It was a great relief to get it done. We took pictures and had dinner that was prepared by Todd and Dawn that was again amazing. The last day we got to go out in the boat and do some fishing. We didn’t catch many fish but had an amazing time. I did catch the best fighting log in the lake! (haha). Thanks for the great time and amazing memories.

I’ve got to begin with a great big thank you to all of those involved in this organization and this event. As most know, I almost had to cancel because I was closing on my house the day of the flight to the event. I managed to move the closing date up a day and get to the airport on time. The accommodations were excellent, a big shout out to Stoney Creek Hotel. Meeting all of those involved, Todd, Dawn, Mike, Mike, Derek and Rigley (the dog) was so refreshing. Everyone involved was extremely friendly and inviting. The food prepared by Dawn was delicious beyond words as well as the snack packs we were all given. As for the hunting, what can I say; we were partnered with great guides that were knowledgeable and well versed in the actions of the turkeys, and we all were able to harvest a bird the first day out, unheard of! Harvesting an animal was not the highlight of this event, however. The camaraderie, respect and being able to bond with kindred souls and brothers in arms is the thing I will take from this experience. On day two we all went out for a day of relaxing. Fishing on the local waterways, catching numerous fish, sure but being able to relax, unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature is what I will take away from this great adventure. I have truly made friends and buddies for life this weekend. I will always be in awe of those that take time and expense from their own lives to give back to veterans. Thank you all at WWIA as well as all involved in this hunt.

This weekend was amazing! I came into this thinking the hunt was the purpose and left with the hunt being the furthest from my mind. The people here have really changed my life for the better. I’ve never met a more genuine and generous group of people in my life. I can’t thank everyone enough. I’ve struggled with PTS and struggle with groups and crowds. 20 minutes after being on site I felt like family. I really cannot say thank you enough. The friends and memories I made this weekend will last with me forever. Thank you more than you will ever know.

What an amazing experience. I cannot begin to put into words my humble and grateful thoughts for this weekend. From the minute that I met up with Brian at Bass Pro Shop to the minute we prepared to depart camp, everyone was so awesome. I have to say, it was extremely emotional at times as we shared stories and just fellowshipped in camaraderie. Getting to talk with the other veterans and get to know their stories provided an opportunity to share some of my story. I do not talk about my service very often, so it was nice to share and to talk with other wounded warriors. It was even more awesome that I got to harvest a turkey and enjoy the experience of working the bird in with an awesome guide. This trip has been a truly awesome and humbling experience. I got to meet some really great people. Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an amazing weekend. Please share with the Host how much fun and how exciting this weekend was. It truly was a great time! Thank you.

I don’t know where to start, but I guess I will start with thanking Mark, David, Brian, Don and Keith. Also, the women here helping were badass and we couldn’t have pulled it off without them. Jake, my guide was the best thing ever, he will probably be hoarse when you talk with him. We didn’t get the intended target, but I had the time of my life and learned a lot. I can’t speak for all three of us, but I loved meeting Justin and Eric. Team Thunderbird! Thank you and love you all.

2021 Galveston Couples

My wife and I had some concerns about staying with people we’ve never met before, so we started out with a lot of anxiety. Upon arrival Drew, Brad and Julie’s son was very polite and welcoming as we rode from the airport to Galveston. From the moment we arrived you could feel the kind and loving environment. Brad and Julie are truly caring people and very gracious with their hospitality. The second day my wife wasn’t feeling well so she stayed behind as we all went fishing. The fishing was awesome, Shawn really knows his fishing. Everyone caught good size fish. When I got back my wife was very happy. She said she talked to Julie most of the morning and had a really good time even though she had wanted to fish. The next day we went downtown and to the farmer’s market. We had a great time looking at the different things Galveston had to offer. The nights on the water were so relaxing, hearing the waves crash. The food was unbelievable. We learned a lot about how to cook and clean the food. This trip was truly amazing. Anyone with anxiety about coming should really try to put their anxiety aside for a moment and come. Thank you so much.

This organization is truly special! This couple’s retreat means so much to us. We never had a honeymoon when we got married and our lives have been extremely busy. This has been a very special getaway for us. We never get this chance. WWIA afforded us this opportunity to spend time as a couple in Galveston, TX with Brad and Julie, Wow! What can I say, they are some of the most selfless and welcoming people we have ever met. We love them so much now! Heck, we love WWIA, Brad and Julie, all of the people involved and the people we met! Thank you so much! We mean this from the bottom of our hearts!

Thank you to all that participated in the Great Creek Hunt Club Turkey Hunt and all the WWIA members. This was my second hunt with WWIA. I just wanted to say that this was one of the best trips I have been on. The people from the Hunt Club did an outstanding job to make sure we had the most enjoyable time and every opportunity to tag a turkey. The community was also very supportive. Thank you, Great Creek Hunt Club! I especially want to thank Chris for our talk while fishing, Andy for bringing us all together for fellowship and camaraderie, Major and Will for 3 great days of hunting and always putting me on a bird. It was a once in a lifetime trip. In a time when being a patriot means going against what society deems suitable, it is great to know there are people like all of you who support these Warriors and will continue to support us through these challenging times. 2021 AK Halibut

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would ever be able to fish in Alaska. This trip made that happen. The ability to experience the fraternity and fellowship of other veterans which has not been consistently a part of my life. Our Hosts were amazing and spoiled us with amazing fish and amazing food. It was a very rewarding experience all the way around. I am eternally grateful for the chance to be here. The ability to focus solely on fishing and companionship and not the stresses and anxieties of life was very rewarding. Best Wishes.

In December I was ready to end my life. I pushed through it and was able to find reasons to live. This Alaska trip allowed me to actually live. I spend a lot of time helping others. Alaska is an amazing place! This trip meant so much to all of us that attended, and it allowed me, at least, to put some things, finally, to bed. Thanks to WWIA for everything. Thanks to John, Joe and the crew for the jokes, fish, fun and food. A special thanks to Crystal for her effort and sacrifice. Keep it up WWIA.

This was a once in a lifetime trip. To be honest, this trip put my mind at ease and allowed me to bond with special individual veterans! It showed me that we as broken vets can show and accept ourselves in society and we are humans. The fishing portion was the best time. We all bonded and had the greatest time. We even became friends and exchanged numbers to keep in touch. I really want to thank John and Joe. The guys were wonderful, sincere and outstanding individuals. You really have to have your heart in this to accomplish what they do! They do have their hearts in this, and I really appreciate what they do! I will never forget this trip; it will be a place in my mind to go back to if I should ever be down in spirit.

Great Trip! Alaska is beautiful! Fishing for halibut was so much fun. I got to know John and Joe. Great guys. We all got to see the glacier. John did a great job organizing the trip and cooking for us. Further, John provided everything we needed. Great place to stay with warm showers. We all got our limit of fish and are going home with 100 pounds each. My first time to Alaska and WWIA made this trip for me a real experience. Seeing the glaciers and mountains gave me a sense of peace and solitude. Now I can go home with a sense of purpose in life. Thank you.

My second trip sponsored by WWIA and both were outstanding, but this one was extra special as it was a total fishing experience with some of the finest people on earth. A very special thank you must go to the owners of Wild Waves Motel, as this event could not happen without their generosity. The volunteers and guides were extra special and showed us a great time. Sharing stories with my fellow PH vets is the highlight of the trip as we all share one thing in common, which cannot be shared with other vets. I now have three close friends to follow on the internet and one of them lives a four-hour drive from me, so I can see some more fishing adventures in the future with him! 2021 W PA Turkey Hunt

This was my first event with WWIA and I am in awe of the hospitality and fellowship from everyone. The first day we had our first hunt and had two birds come out. My first time harvesting a turkey. What an amazing experience. My Guide Scott was just as excited as I was. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to network and make great friendships with some of the nation’s finest veterans and volunteers. Thank you sincerely for giving me the chance to harvest a bird and learn to flyfish for trout. I hope we all cross paths again to enjoy some veteran sportsmen events.

This is my second trip with WWIA. The first being MoKan in 2018. I can honestly say from arrival to departure this was one of the best weeks I have experienced in quite some time. The event Host, family and volunteers went above and beyond what I deserved. The turkey hunting action was unbelievable on both mornings we hunted. Although I missed the shot on a nice bird, the experience was a memory that will last forever. We went to a creek that was stocked with trout and roped off just for us to fly fish. New to flyfishing this was a treat. I was catching rainbows, brookies and I also landed a very nice palomino trout that I will be taking to the taxidermist. The food was phenomenal the entire stay. Not only will I be taking home memories and new friendships, but I am also taking home a few extra pounds. All and all, I don’t see how this event could have been any better.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come to this event. The 4 days you gave me to be with my brothers has made my year! Not only did it make my year, but you gave me 4 days of peace that was priceless. I can never thank you enough for that. Your organization and your great people that help run it will forever be a part of my family. Derek and Gerald were amazing. Gerald was a truly genuine person that has a heart of gold. I have been to a few events now through other organizations and the effort he put in was bar none the best. I can only hope that I get another opportunity to come back. Once again WWIA has gone above my expectations and provided a great experience for me and the other guys. The staff, Hosts and guides were very friendly and provided anything we needed. Saying thank you for this trip would never be enough to express my gratitude to WWIA and all of the people in the community that helped put this trip together. This trip has reminded me of the camaraderie and family that is gained through military service. WWIA has gone above and beyond to show me and the other veterans on this trip an amazing time. The time I have spent bonding with the other veterans has proven that healing through talking through experiences can occur no matter what branch of service you were in or years between the dates of service. Meeting the other veterans has been helpful in many ways and sharing stories is always fun. Thank you again to WWIA for this incredible time and I hope there is something I can do to give back to make sure that other veterans are able to share an amazing experience like I have.

To everyone at WWIA, I would like to give you a heartfelt thank you. I have never been saltwater fishing, so this was a treat for me. Everyone on this trip was great, I feel as though I made many friends and family. This was my second trip with WWIA and I will have new memories for the rest of my life. When I received the phone call asking me if I would like to participate in this event out in Louisiana, doing some fishing in the Mississippi River Delta, I was hesitant and nervous to accept and come. WWIA made everything very pleasant, and I could not be happier to have said yes! My experience was and has been a truly memorable one. Being able to enjoy some time with fellow veterans and volunteers, who accepted me and made me feel like family truly solidified what this is all about. It was much needed therapy and the memories made and shared, I will cherish everyday from here on. I am so thankful to all that made this event so special. It takes a special group of people to open their homes to complete strangers. Also, the amount of gratitude that has been expressed without ever knowing our stories. To be able to share the stories about each other’s lives and getting to know the guides and fellow service members is indescribable. I look forward to continuing to share my experiences with my family and friends about my trip to fish for big Muskie. Thank you, thank you and thank you again for making me feel special from a situation I never expected to happen to me. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the men and women who helped put this event on. At the time that I was invited to this trip, I was feeling down due to the cancellation of travel plans I had due to COVID restrictions. It helped a lot to be able to do something fun and visit a state that I had never been to before. The experience was unforgettable, and I won’t ever forget it. Everyone treated me with the greatest amount of friendliness and care.

I have been a part of WWIA for about 10-11 years. I did a trip with Corrina Hart in Washington State many years ago. I have been and continue to be impressed by this amazing organization. Frenchy and Jason are outstanding liaisons and were there for all of our needs. The Guides were absolutely fantastic. They showed great professionalism and did everything they could to ensure we had a great time and got what we came for. This trip has particularly left me in awe with how involved the community is in welcoming us and hosting us. It was truly humbling and an honor to be a part of it. To bring fellow service members together in a capacity like this is inspiring and healing to many of us. With the military being a way of life for many years only to be in the regular world after, is difficult for many. These events give us a much-needed reprieve, to be around others who understand, to tell our stories, and to enjoy that camaraderie even for a couple of days. Thank you for everything!

I want to thank everyone involved with the WWIA team. This is the first event I’ve been involved in, ever. I had an amazing time coming together in a family atmosphere type setting. The stories told and memories created this weekend will last a lifetime. I will share this experience with other veterans and encourage them to get involved. Words cannot express the gratitude and thanks to WWIA that I am feeling. This has truly helped me to break down barriers.

I’ve never been able to fit in with family and friends that have not served in the military. I am a very caring person, and very protective of others, and have a deep respect for life. As a Vietnam Veteran, we have been continuously spat on for serving our country. This event has been my “happy place”. Whenever life is overbearing, I go to my happy place, that is fishing and hunting. Thank you so much for this opportunity. It makes me very proud to share life with other younger vets. What we experienced in the field of battle never changes. But the good news is God loves a warrior. He stands for freedom, ours and other countries. It is all worth the fight. This is my “welcome home: parade. Thank you! A grateful vet.

I haven’s smiled and laughed or had a good time like this in a really long time. Everything about this trip has been top notch. The volunteers, the guides, the support staff and the community make us feel like family and truly appreciated. I honestly enjoyed myself and it was a blessing to be around military folks again. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget this.

First and foremost, this was awesome! It brought tears to my eyes to see not only the volunteers but the town folks supporting us. I did not have one negative experience while I was here. Forgive me but it is hard to put into words. This experience you all have afforded me, the support and gratitude exceeds any of my expectations.

A most outstanding trip for me. Frenchy and Jason were great! Fishing was fantastic and the folks that spent a great deal of their time, there are no better. They put a great weekend together. Special thanks to Bill and Mark for great fishing and making us feel at home. Thank you very much.

Bill, Larry, Mark, Dave and all the volunteers have put on another extraordinary event. The camaraderie, fishing, food, and atmosphere were once again, top notch. The Ashtabula community and all the volunteers were so incredibly kind and generous. This event has become personal for me as many of its Hosts and volunteers have become very good friends. Every time I am fortunate enough to be chosen for this event, it feels like a homecoming of family and friends. The Warriors were incredible making the presence of military brothers and sisters that much more relaxing and enjoyable. My wife and kids were camping nearby, a place my wife spent her summers as a child. Being a Guide/Associate with WWIA for many years now, she only saw the calls and the paperwork side of the events being done. She requested to stop by on Thursday morning with my two sons (8 and 10 years) to help set up tables and chairs, make beds and help with whatever needed doing. The Hosts were incredibly kind in welcoming them with open arms. It was also special to me to see my family meet and spend time with the Warriors and witness firsthand the affect WWIA has on all of the Warriors and volunteers. Every year Larry and Mark pledge that the next year “will be better”. I chuckle inside wondering how it can get much better and where can they find room for improvement. They always do find a way though. The addition of the fire truck hanging a massive flag at the American Legion on Friday and the smoked meats lunch on Sunday was mind blowing. The fishing, Warriors, Hosts, boat captains, and their families went above and beyond anyone’s expectations. These men and women have this event dialed in! I can’t express enough how thankful I am to be a part of this organization and to be introduced to such incredible people. I can’t say thank you enough. All my best.

This is our third-year volunteering with the WWIA Team Erie event. Mark (Redneck) and I are boat captains. My most favorite part of the weekend is when the Legion hosts our Heroes. The parade, walking through the tunnel of color guard and Legion members just causes the ugly cry to erupt each year. The community of Ashtabula is so supportive of this event. They make me think we just went back to 1950 with their patriotic respect. I seriously have not met one of our Heroes that I have not been humbled by on this event. All have been so appreciative of our efforts. This year was met with so many challenges (log jam in the river, which was impassable, small craft advisory predictions and storms) which were resolved, and we had an awesome weekend. So many memories and friend made. Thank you for the Memories.

2021 NH Bear and Bass

I would like to first and foremost thank everyone for this awesome experience. I met a lot of great people who I believe truly had an American spirit and appreciated my service. This hunt offered me plenty of first time experiences from seeing and harvesting my bear to catching some of the fish I caught. Out of it all though I think the most important things it helped me with was learning to cope with my issues, I had a hard time getting on that first plane. I also was able to make new friends and grow my family through this new brotherhood. I want to thank Jake, Dave, and Roy with his Crew for helping me through this. Thank you, Corrina and John, for this amazing experience, I hope that you are all blessed for years to come for what you provide and for how you help out the Veteran Community.
Much love and Respect for all you do.

S. Stanley, US Army

This will always be a memorable event. The Host, Roy and crew along with Guide, Jake have helped me more than they will ever know. I have had a lot of first time experiences. From the first bear to the new friendships made, this has been the greatest trip ever. I want to thank the WWIA for all they do to provide these quality events for vets. I hope that one day I will be able to pay this forward.

Hunting saved my life. When I got back from combat, there were a lot of mental and emotional scars. We lost some good brothers, and it stays with you. I also lost my single Mom to Cancer in 2016. A man, especially a Marine usually believes he is an invincible Warrior. That is not the case when those lost brothers and loved ones bring you to your knees. It was not until my Marine brother introduced me to hunting that I was pulled from the darkness. The wilderness, the gun powder, and the harvest is now my shining light of peace. But even more importantly, the fellowship. Thank you for this opportunity and moment in time to find peace. I am eternally grateful. Thank you.

2021 Camp Hackett Bear

Thank you for everything that you guys are doing for veterans. Your operation is locked in from the get go. It reminded me of being back in the military. This bear hunt was a great experience for me, although no joy in getting a bear. I got to meet some great people. I was able to learn and see how things are done by experienced hunters. We felt at home and very comfortable the whole time. Thank you for everything.

I struggle to write because it is hard for me to put into words how grateful I am to be a part of such an amazing event. From first contact all the way up to arrival, the communication from the Foundation was incredible. I am truly thankful for such an amazing community in Phillips that has come together to make this event possible. I will forever have great memories from Camp Hackett. The two bear, geese, one porcupine and countless lifelong friends are just an added bonus. Thank you, John, Art and Derek. Thank you to the people of Phillips and thank you WWIA.

2021 Heroes Northland Experience Bear Hunt

This was my very first black bear hunt. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I would like to thank the Hosts, Nancy and Dan as well as WWIA Guide, Derrick. Without these people, this event would not have been possible. I was able to enjoy time away with people who understand some of the challenges that todays wounded veterans face. It was exciting, relaxing and most importantly, I built friendships that will last a lifetime. I was able to successfully harvest a 125-pound black bear and every time I look up to see it, I will remember this amazing experience. A big thank you to the WWIA team.

D. English, USMC

Harvesting a black bear was something on my bucket list that I always wanted to do, but truly thought I would never get to. The WWIA allowed me to achieve this life goal and expanded my family. This hunt will be a fond memory that I will look back on for the rest of my life. It will brighten my dark days and always bring a smile to my face. The Hosts of this event are what makes this country great and worth fighting for. In this rough time, it is amazing to see such giving and humble people. Derrick is an amazing Guide and great person. You can tell this group of people really, truly cares. Thank you does not express my gratitude and feelings. 100 pound black bear harvested, thanks!

2021 NY Upland Bird and Couples Retreat

Kathy and I can’t thank you enough for the honor we have had to meet you and the great Americans you have surrounded yourself with to make the couples retreat so special for the warriors but also our wife’s.
You and your crew have reminded us that there are patriotic Americans that believe the US service members are important to the security of our Nation and are willing to risk their lives to defend the US Constitution and its citizens!
You have made us feel so special and honored by the wonderful gifts and efforts you and your posse have put forth making this weekend so terrific! God bless you and yours!

2021 Shell Beach Fishing

What a great organization, giving all they have to wounded warriors. No one really knows how much it means to get together with other veterans. To share their experiences over the years. Many separated by years of age, but all young at heart when together. This trip was an experience I will never forget and will share with my family and friends. Great memories, great leadership, great support and great volunteers. First time experience fishing in salt water and I truly enjoyed catching some fish and watching my new friends catch fish. It is hard to explain what I experienced on this trip, but the WWIA group made it all possible.

This was an incredible opportunity. I wanted to start off with a big thank you to WWIA for making this happen. Rock was a great Host. 2021 Bayfield Cast & Blast

This has got to be one of the best trips I have ever been on. From the setting to the food, to the activities. It has been non-stop fun and friendship. The best part has been the people. Chris and his crew have been gracious, supportive, and welcoming. I was a 15-year addict and have been going through some dark times. This event has given me a new outlook on life, and more importantly on humanity. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity. I had an a amazing time and feel privileged to have been able to meet such great people. We stayed busy the entire time and the two other veterans on the trip were good guys with some great stories of humor and good fellowship. Thank you again. Thank you to all involved. We may not have gotten any kills on this trip, but the time we spent together was worth everything. Thank you all so much.

B. Clements, US Army

A great event for anyone that is a wounded soldier. I did not expect the hospitality these people showed. Chris was an excellent Host for this event. This guy loves the soldiers from the time the plane lands. It is fun to be around him, to hear his stories from past events and others who are going through the same issues. I loved the fun and camaraderie here. Just a great time with brothers.

J. Lowery, US Army

I had a blast on this trip! The folks helping Chris with this event are top-notch, great people. Corrina took care of the logistics, and from the time we stepped foot at the Duluth airport, we were treated like royalty. The cabin was amazing, and the food was incredible! The people were the best part. I made several new friends with the people who hosted, volunteered, and participated in this event. The outdoors were great here as well. This area is beautiful. I will have to visit this place again. I hope I get an invite to return. I scratched Muskie off my bucket list. It was 40” and will be on the wall. I saw so many deer, turkey, and a wolf. The host even said it was a down year for wildlife sightings…wow! Just incredible. My dear was unfortunately discovered by wolves before we found it. Still a cool story. I had a blast at the Bayfield Cast & Blast. Thank you guys. Semper Fidelis.

2021 Grand Ciel Lodge, South Dakota Pheasant Hunt

Thanks, WWIA for the great pheasant hunt in South Dakota. I have experienced a few outings like this and often find it hard to fully express what it means to me. My first thoughts are, great I get to go hunting. Excitement grows weekly waiting for the day of departure.
Once I got to the designated location, I found my thoughts drifting from the excitement of hunting to the emotion of camaraderie I feel surrounded by awesome veterans. I ended up enjoying the stories about service, families, and work as much or more than the hunting experience itself. Being a Vietnam vet, I appreciated being made to feel included. Grand Ciel Lodge was wonderful. Brad and Julie are so giving and really made us feel like family. The accommodations are second to none and the food was great. The guides and dogs really put us on lots of birds. All in all, I came away feeling so appreciated and relaxed.

G. Brown, US Army

I had an incredible experience at an enchanting place with the most awesome people, hosted by angels, Mr. Brad and Mrs. Julie of Grand Ciel. It was the week before September 11, 2021, when I was called by Ms. Corrina Hart, who reached out to me. I was in New York City when Corrina and I confirmed the event. The timing was perfect due to having several surgeries to remove bullet fragments from my chest as well as treatments to my leg and back from injuries caused in Iraq. Spending priceless time with veterans who share the same views, experience and cohesiveness is what Wounded Warriors in Action created for me and all those combat-wounded Purple Heart recipients who are ready and able to participate in world class outdoor sporting events and activities. Thank you all for the memories that are so important in so many ways. I am humbled and blessed.

Corrina, thanks so much for your efforts and coordination of the PA cast and Blast! I had more fun this past weekend than I had in a long time. The guys were awesome to hang out with. I really needed that in my life. I have truly made a few more friends in my life. Matt and Corbin are GREAT guides, don’t tell them I said that LOL. The hosts were very gracious and really rolled out the red carpet for us. I would be honored to be considered again. And that I got to share my experience with my good friend Steve Ceriani was a bonus. Thank you, Thank You!

I’m really grateful for having the opportunity to be a part of the WWIA family that helps other Purple Heart members connect with each other. Thank you.

This trip to PA to meet up with fellow WWIA veterans was something special. I was a sad broken man on the brink of disaster. I met 10-12 veterans who just loved me, hugged me and assured me of family and a band of brothers who all bled to save others in honor and sacrifice. I’m getting a little older and slower, but they still loved me. Shooting and fishing was great. I will forever remember.

This hunt was great, we had a blast! From Gabe to Roy and the rest of the volunteers who put on a great event, I couldn’t be more thankful to have spent time with everyone involved. We made lifelong friends and met some great people who did everything to make this a wonderful event that I will never forget. I felt like I was around family every day. The community and the town of Garrison, I thank them so much. Gabe was the greatest Guide; he was professional and made sure we were in good hands. Although we met for a short period of time, I feel all of us have made a connection and will keep in touch in the future. Thank you, Gabe, and WWIA for this experience that I will never forget and for all the memories!

I had an amazing three days of hunting. 98 birds were taken in all. Food was great and the whole town was amazing, the people were very welcoming. Hope to come back and hunt soon. I had a great time with you Mike, stay in touch.

The five of us came from all over the country, never having met. Over the last four days we have bonded, laughed till we cried, talked some trash (I was the only non-Army guy). We had so much fun. The impact that this amazing event has made on me could never be measured in words. No one gets to choose their relatives, but this weekend we were treated like family. Oh yeah, we did some hunting too! We stopped counting because there were so many birds, deer, moose, coyotes and all you can do is reload and watch the dogs because they are going hard. Smiles so big it hurt my face. It was eye opening, lots of fun and I can’t wait to come back some day. I got to be a “doc” again for a few minutes too. Love you guys!

2021 Double Creek Lodge Archery Deer Hunt

I’ll start off by saying a huge thank you to James, Shelley and Dennis as well as the volunteer guides. The scenery and accommodations were outstanding. I’ve had the opportunity to attend a WWIA event prior and can confidently say that this event was even more impactful six years later. The camaraderie and fellowship helps to bring back that feeling of being whole again. I was fortunate to be with three other great Heroes and the event went off without a hitch. Thank you!

J. Fisher, US Army

The WWIA event and Double Creek was awesome. I have been to a couple of other veteran events that don’t compare to this one. You couldn’t ask for better Hosts than Shelley and Dennis. Also, the camaraderie that was there with the other Heroes, it was great to just be there with others that have been through the same. This event was the best time I have had since I have been back and retired. I would come back to this event anytime.

S. Kingsley, US Army

Had one of the best times on this hunt. Good food, good guys, and the Hosts were top-notch. I look forward to participating again one day with this organization. This was awesome and a great opportunity for wounded veterans to get together with other like-minded individuals. Thanks so much for the opportunity to come out to this hunt. All the cakes were the best ever.

This has been one of the best experiences, spending the weekend here at Double Creek. It is such a release of the soul to be with other Warriors and be welcomed into a stranger’s world and be treated like family. Shelley and Dennis are top-notch people with hearts of angels. 2021 W. PA Archery Deer

I want to reach out and Thank You for the opportunity WWIA gave me this past weekend hunting in PA! This was the first time in a long time where I was able to forget about everything going on in my life and get outdoors and be surrounded with veterans like myself. The trip was much more than I expected and Corbin was a great guide. I can’t put it all into words but the opportunity you gave me on the hunt was better than any therapy I could attend. Hunting and being outdoors is the only thing outside my family that brings me joy, you were able to give me the opportunity to do what I love most and I was able to be put with an amazing group of veterans, hosts and guides. I can’t thank you enough for that and I hope next year I will be able to do it again.

Thank you,
Dennis Derr

This event was something I will never forget. From meeting fellow purple heart recipients to the Host and the volunteers. I will have new friends for life now. If it wasn’t for WWIA I would not have had this experience and to be able to get my first deer. I was truly honored to have been on this event.

The trip was Amazing! The hosts, guides, guests and veterans made this a trip of a lifetime! The friendships made along with the hunt itself was beyond my expectations. D. Derr, USMC

Where to begin?! I attended the 8th Annual Pennsylvania archery event this past weekend in Rural Valley, PA. This was my first event with WWIA and I can truly say it had a HUGE impact on me, the memories and friends made will last a lifetime. From the moment I got off the plane and linked up with the others until the time we departed, it felt like I was amongst old friends. The Hosts and volunteers are such incredible people and the trip wouldn’t be possible without them. The amount of thought and preparation they put into this event left me speechless. The camaraderie was something I haven’t experienced in very many years, and it made me realize how special it is to be with other veterans that have experienced similar things. The hunt itself was on an incredible property and the weather was terrible basically the whole time, the misery added to the experience and great times were had by
all. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough to express the gratitude we all felt for this amazing trip, I hope to have the opportunity to attend another! HUGE thanks to WWIA, The Bevevino family and all of the volunteers that made this event possible, it was truly needed and much appreciated!

When I lost cell service and turned down that winding road leading to the lodge I wondered if I was in the right spot. Then I pulled in and the Host greeted me with a handshake and a smile. It was clear to me from the start that the volunteers were here for us out of the greatness of their hearts. This was an amazing experience, with an amazing group of people. New friendships were forged that will last many years. Goodbyes were tough, with no dry eyes. I cannot thank WWIA enough for this opportunity.

What an amazing team of people. Keith and Gabe ran this very successful WWIA event. The local community has been incredible, and Keith has done an amazing job getting everyone involved. I feel like I have a new family. It is my duty to live my life to the fullest in honor of my friends that never returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. From the time I was contacted about this event it was nothing perfect. Meeting all the staff and other hunters has been one of the best times I’ve had in a long while. Over the years I have begun to think that people have forgotten about the men and women that protect our great country. Not only the staff of WWIA but the other people I’ve gotten to know this week has made me realize they have not forgotten. I very proud to be a part of this event. Knowing that people care and want to support our men and women is awesome. Thank you is not enough words. The morning after the dinner, I was very humbled and moved by the generosity of everyone at the dinner. Speaking with everyone has given me a new outlook on our great country. We have hope as a nation. This is a great town with outstanding people. I am proud to be a part of it and call you all friends.

2021 MoKan B & D

I want to thank everyone that was involved with this adventure. My family would like to thank you as well. It is important for me to have something to look forward to. This event is what I have been looking forward to for months. I was apprehensive when I showed up because it is hard for me to let anyone do nice things for me. I am always afraid it will not be genuine. I lost that apprehension real fast when I arrived here at Napier. The love and kindness I felt was strong and I knew this was a welcoming place. I am amazed at the folks that took so much time out of their lives to show us how much they care for us. This was a truly amazing time. Thank you for the love you all showed.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for the greatest hunting trip of my life! This has been an action-packed weekend with some of the nicest people I have ever met. I was fortunate enough to tag out in Kansas with my bow (special thanks to Jake Hawk). Then I rifle hunted in Missouri with Andy and harvested a second buck. I followed that up with a duck hunt with Brian, Brad and Kyle (no shots fired) and then an afternoon of trapping where we caught 3 beavers and a coyote. How could I have ever spent a more rounded hunting trip. The lodge was incredible, and our Hosts were amazing. The Napier Hunt Club is a special place, and I will forever remember my trip here. Thank you!

C. Ritchie, US Navy

First off, thank you for my awesome weekend. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Thank you for the time and the company of awesome people. I got choked up when they gave us all the rifles, it was so unexpected. It has been difficult since my brain surgery. I really needed this time away. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. This weekend has given me an unforgettable time. Second, I have always wanted to whitetail hunt. To do it with some of the monsters here in Kansas was a once in a lifetime hunt. Thank you for giving me a once unattainable hunt to check off my bucket list. Even though I did not harvest in Kansas, the memories and experience will last forever. Finally, thank you to WWIA for yet another amazing time. This is my third time with WWIA, each time never fails to impress me. I go in looking for an unforgettable time, I always leave with more friends than I started with.

Thank you so much for everything your organization is doing for the veterans. This has been one of the greatest trips I have been on. I am usually pretty tense and feel nervous in crowds or with large groups of people. But, from the moment I was picked up from the airport, to the last night of hunting, everybody here was going out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable and was enjoying myself. The first day I arrived I could feel my body relaxing and my shoulders dropping. I just realized how tightly wound up I have been. I also realized that it is possible for me to still be able to be relaxed and comfortable around new people. Now when I return home, I am going to try to keep this new feeling with me and start leaving my comfort zone more. I really want to thank you for that. Being surrounded by so many positive and great people has had a great impact on me. You guys are not just talking the talk, you are making huge impacts in combat vets lives. Thank you so much for what WWIA is doing.

I want to thank you guys. The hunts were amazing, even if we didn’t see birds. Please don’t change a thing. Don’t even house break Rod. That rifle at the end was a cherry on top, thank you again.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this trip with everyone who is involved with this club, yes even Rodney, nights would be colder without him. I had an amazing time here at the Napier Hunt Club. I can’t even think of anything more that could make it better, well maybe house break Rodney. I thank you so much. If there is anything I could do to help you guys out, please let me know. If I am still up in Alaska this fall and anyone wants a place to stay and hunt, don’t hesitate to get a hold of me.

I don’t think I can put into words how great of a time I had this weekend. The way everyone at Napier made us feel welcome and like one of the guys, is very special. I don’t know if anyone could understand how this has helped me heal and feel like the team has never left. I have made lifelong friendships. I cannot thank the foundation and Napier Hunt Club enough.

You guys are awesome! It truly means a lot that you guys do this for us. I had a blast with everyone. The bucks were big, and birds were dropping like flies the first day. Please let all who helped with this event know that we are extremely thankful. I will continue to fully support any way I can to WWIA and MoKan.

2021 Great Creek Deer Hunt

First of all, thank you so much for your amazing organization and all your work. I had the best weekend that I have had in many years. Folks at Great Creek Hunt Club treated us like family. I want to thank you for my personal experience, but also and most importantly for helping wounded warriors all these years. God Bless.

I want to say thank you for this opportunity to take part in such a great event. Everyone here was so great and made me feel right at home. I have never been on a hunt like this, and the experience was great. It was truly a great time, and I will never forget it. The Great Creek Hunt Club is a great group. Thank you again and I hope to attend another event.

I had a great time and the food as well as the people were awesome. There were a lot of stories told and they shall be remembered probably for the rest of my time. Good luck to the club, stay strong.

2021 Camp Hackett A

What an amazing time with great Americans and combat veterans. This type of outdoor remote experience is very therapeutic, heartfelt, and what I need from time to time; To simply get away and spend time with people who know what we deal with. I made lifelong friends that I know I can call on anytime. Camp Hackett is truly remote and an amazing place to truly experience hunting with a challenge. The people in the surrounding area are amazing patriots. God Bless everyone who worked to make this event happen.

This was the most incredible experience I’ve ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Our Hosts, John and Art are two very special Warriors in their own right. We were treated like Heroes, which I have never considered myself to be. The towns people were totally amazing and over generous. This is one great organization and has my support from this day on. Thank you so much to the Wounded Warriors in Action organization for their great sacrifices that they do for the wounded warriors. You have my appreciation and respect for what you do.

2021 Camp Hackett B

Thank you so very much. I definitely needed this. It was a great getaway from the everyday norm at home. I don’t have anyone to talk to about my military past and let everyday life eat at me. My family can’t relate to what I have done, and I don’t say much because I know they aren’t interested. Arriving here and being able to talk to people and other veterans recharged my purpose and my soul. It was very healing. John and Jake and also my two veteran partners, Dennis and Rusty made it nice to be able to tell stories and let out a lot of frustrations and internal build up. It was nice to sit around the fire and talk about life and different ways to battle issues. I don’t have that back home. The patriotism and hospitality were amazing. Thanks to WWIA and the Wisconsin community for helping me feel like I belong and what I did for 20 years had a purpose.

This was an awesome trip to a beautiful place! Camp Hackett is jam-packed with fun. From deer, grouse, geese and muskie, we got to experience some amazing hunts. The best part, however, is the people in this organization. Jake and John are awesome guys. I am very thankful to have met them. Dennis and Ramiro, thank you for opening up and being great Americans. To all the people who have donated their time, cooked food, drank beer by the campfires or took a moment to make this trip a success, I want to say thank you.

My time at Camp Hackett was a very therapeutic experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got here, but the staff and volunteers here made it easy to relax. I will never forget my time here and the friendships I have made. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this experience.

2022 Naples NT VFW Buck Hunt

This was one to remember, for sure. Though the event is only in its 3rd year, things ran so smoothly you would think it’s been going on for decades. The little community of Naples/Middlesex provided so much support to make sure the wounded warriors were comfortable, it is mind-blowing. I leave here truly humbled. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. What made it even more special was getting to know the Hosts, Rick, Glen and Jason (all Heroes in their own right). Overall, an excellent outing, I highly recommend.

What a great way to come back to the area. A great time with around the fire, jokes, dinner and laughs. That was the best part. Same good time in the woods, nothing taken but a fun peaceful and therapeutic time. I value that the most and appreciate being able to come. Thanks Derek and all who made this event happen.

2021 Double Creek TN Rifle Deer

I have not worked with any groups or trips when I was wounded. I was fighting to heal and stay in the USMC. I am forever grateful to be a part of WWIA. I have learned how to hunt and am truly thankful for the serenity and therapeutic nature of it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity.

To everyone at WWIA, thank you for everything. This has been an amazing trip and I have made new lifelong friendships. It is so refreshing to meet new people that have been through the same thing as me. Thank you so much.

Thank you for everything you did for me. WWIA, you have made me feel like there are people out there that still care for wounded veterans. The volunteer guides are awesome, please let them know how much I appreciate them.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to come hunt at Double Creek Lodge. I felt the old camaraderie of the Corps again. Dennis and Shelley made me feel at home and welcome at all times. This was the first time I went deer hunting and actually saw deer. I ended up getting a doe and an 8-point buck. This was an experience I will never forget.
