9th Annual Long Leaf Alabma Deer & Quail Hunt
February 6-9, 2026
Bay Minette, Alabama
Three of our combat-wounded Warriors journeyed to scenic Bay Minette, Alabama to enjoy four outstanding days at the 9th Annual Long Leaf Alabama Whitetail and Quail Hunt. This event offered our Heroes outstanding opportunities to harvest deer and quail while enjoying the great outdoors and being amongst like-minded Veterans. Our Heroes arrived with great anticipation and would not be disappointed, as they harvested a buck and a doe in the filed and harvested a plethora of quail courtesy of Hamilton Smith through his incredible Davis Lake Quail Reserve. When they weren’t reveling in the excitement of their hunts, there was plenty of downtime to enjoy delicious food, get to know one another, and share conversations and laughs throughout their time together. Our Heroes left Alabama with smiles on their faces, coolers full of deer and quail meat, and most importantly, new friendships that will carry on long after the event has ended.
Our gratitude and thanks to Host Andy McMillan, his family, and friends for hosting another spectacular event. Additional recognition and thanks to WWIA Guide Matt Brannon for his stellar support and attention throughout this event.
“I genuinely appreciated this weekend. The hunting, the hosts and the food were all top notch. First time that I have ever been quail hunting and it was a blast, literally. It is always nice to be around other vets with very similar circumstances, so you know that you are not alone with all the crap we deal with after combat. I will finish with this; I have mulled over for years what to say when someone thank me for my service. To all of you I say thank you for being someone worth serving for.”
