Thank you for your interest in becoming an event Host in support of WWIA’s mission to Honor, Connect, and Heal America’s combat-wounded Veterans. Here are a few important things to know when considering hosting an event.

  • Our Hosts are volunteers. We don’t pay or solicit Hosts for our events.
  • In order to be a Host/Team Member, we expect our Hosts to offer a high-quality hunting or fishing excursion utilizing resources you/your community have available.
  • We will provide a trained and certified Guide to support your mission to act as an intermediary between you, your community, and the WWIA team/HQ.
  • We deliver 3-5 combat-wounded Purple Heart Veterans on average per mission. If your desire is to accommodate more Heroes, we can discuss your request.
  • Hosts are expected to provide lodging, meals, and a safe and stress-free environment for Heroes to thrive in.
  • We typically expect to do this over a weekend period (Fri-Mon). If your request exceeds that, we can discuss this on a case-by-case basis.
  • We expect that you will engage your communities in arranging activities to defray the cost business.
  • WWIA handles event insurance, travel arrangements, and the vetting of Heroes; manages all tax-deduction and donor acknowledgment letters; coordinates recognition awards; and equips Guides with swag packages for disbursement during the event.

“Our 15th Annual Central Wisconsin Cast and Blast weekend was another resounding success. Our 5 Heroes were able to build their own slate turkey calls and spend hours in the turkey blind and boat using the healing powers of the great outdoors to reconnect with themselves and their fellow Purple Heart brothers. Turkeys were harvested, fish caught, and most importantly, old and new friendships built.”
