WWIA is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to serving combat-wounded Veterans awarded the Purple Heart. Through therapeutic, world-class, adaptive outdoor sporting events, like hunting and fishing excursions, we provide opportunities for camaraderie, healing, and personal growth. These experiences are carefully designed to restore confidence, build lifelong friendships, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood forged in service.

But we offer more than unforgettable adventures. WWIA is a community—built on respect, honor, and gratitude—where you can connect with fellow Purple Heart Heroes who truly understand what you’ve endured. You also connect with communities who honor your service and sacrifice, and who provide an environment and an outdoor experience where healing and camaraderie can occur.

At WWIA, we are committed to giving back in a way that uplifts and sustains you. Our mission is simple: to honor your sacrifice, promote healing, and ensure that every Purple Heart Hero knows their service will never be forgotten.

About Our Events:

  • Our outdoor sporting activities are typically hunting and fishing events, and sometimes a combination of both.
  • WWIA events are offered at no cost to you. We provide transportation, lodging, meals, sporting licenses, guide services, sporting gear necessary to be successful, and a safe and comfortable environment.
  • They typically consist of 3 to 5 fellow Purple Heart recipients including a trained and certified WWIA Guide.
  • Each of our world-class events is offered and supported by an amazing volunteer Host and their supporting community.
  • What we ask in return is that you relax, enjoy yourself, and become fully immersed in this experience and share in camaraderie of your peers and Host’s community.
  • Once you are selected to attend an event, you will receive a military-style, six paragraph Operations Order (OPORD) two weeks prior to your mission.
  • Prior to your mission, you will be contacted by a WWIA Guide to verify you received your Operations Order, answer any questions or concerns you may have, and discuss detailed aspects of your upcoming WWIA mission. Additionally, your Guide will remain with you and your team throughout the mission and is there to help make sure you are successful.
  • Whether you are flying or driving your vehicle to the event, a link-up plan will be provided to you (OPORD). This may include reception and transportation at your arrival airfield, or a time and location for rendezvous at the event site.
  • We are doing our best to ensure that you receive repeat service and are afforded the opportunity to attend another WWIA event.
