The Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation (WWIA) proudly serves America’s combat-wounded Purple Heart Heroes by providing therapeutic, world-class, adaptive sporting events that honor their service and sacrifice. But our events are far more than just outdoor adventures—they are life-changing experiences designed to restore hope, build camaraderie, and foster healing.
We are proudly entering our 20th year of honoring and serving America’s combat-wounded Veterans. Our events have been vetted and carefully crafted over the past two decades to bring together small groups of Wounded Warriors in settings that combine the beauty and healing elements of the great outdoors with the power of camaraderie, and communities who care. Whether it’s a halibut fishing in Alaska, bear hunting in Wisconsin, or turkey hunting in Tennessee, every detail of our events are designed to ensure our Heroes feel honored, supported, and part of the team.

This is not just an awesome outdoor adventure with fellow Purple Heart recipients, these events are opportunities for healing the invisible wounds of war, for building new and lasting friendships, and for helping Heroes find the support they need and deserve. Last year, we served over 165 Purple Heart Heroes on 40 events across 17 states. Our events occur in environments where wounded Veterans can bond with nature and with others who understand and respect their journey. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of patriotic partners, sponsors, volunteers, and Hosts, our events are provided at no cost to the Heroes we serve.
