This experience has been one of the most memorable ones of my life. Meeting and connecting with other Purple Heart recipients and sharing our struggles has been the best “counseling” I could have ever received. During this trip, I have learned that Allen and I were stationed in Germany in the same engineer brigade in the first infantry division, Big Red One. We must have spent an entire evening talking about people that we both knew. I have also made a profound connection with one of the volunteers at this specific event, Vincent and I discussed the emotional passing of friends and family. He showed me a better way of accepting death. He explained his perspective and it eased my thoughts about death. None of these emotional and spiritual changes could have been achieved without the WWIA Foundation. During this event, I have truly been able to Honor, Connect and Heal. Thank you so very much.
