I embarked on an incredible journey to Alberta, Virginia, where I was warmly welcomed by a member of the Great Creek Hunt Club and his wife at the airport. They generously treated me to lunch and introduced me to the other members, who enveloped me in their warmth and hospitality. From that moment on, until I departed for the airport, I was treated like cherished family and honored royalty. The members selflessly dedicated themselves to ensuring our success, running their dogs tirelessly to maximize our chances of harvesting a deer. The community showered us with sumptuous feasts, guaranteeing our every need was met. The accommodations exceeded all expectations, offering an abundance of food, drinks, snacks, and joyful laughter. I had the privilege of meeting three fellow Purple Heart recipients, with whom I instantly connected, sharing stories and memories that will last a lifetime. Prior to this trip, I was struggling with depression, but the kindness and compassion of these remarkable individuals and the organization have reignited my spirit and sense of purpose. I extend my deepest gratitude to all those involved in this life-changing experience, which has brought me a profound sense of peace.
