I missed my flight due to a kiosk, when I finally got to Minot, North Dakota I met Allen and had an instant rapport with him.  He let me know what we would be doing the next three days. He lied. I’ve never met a more enthusiastic group of folks during the hunt and the folks of Garrison, North Dakota. People who had the time in their hearts to make me feel wanted, respected, and a very special person. I don’t know who to thank first, the family at the barn with breakfast and lunch, the fire department with dinner, the guys who brought me a chair when I had difficulty walking or best of all the dogs that were there to flush the birds. Yes, Allen lied, he didn’t say anything about the friendships found, or the camaraderie of all the folks that were there for us five veterans as if we were the only veterans on the face of the earth. I have been involved in many PH events with different groups and bar none this was the best one, from the locals to Allen and WWIA. My travel was smooth, food, accommodations and the company were awesome. The connections I have made with the other veterans and the locals I will carry with me for the rest of my days. I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in an event in Wisconsin. After 20 years in the Marine Corps, one of the things I miss most is the camaraderie and brotherhood of military service. This trip provided an opportunity to reconnect with fellow veterans, enjoy the outdoors, and step away from everyday stresses. I was fortunate enough to harvest a deer, but the true highlight was the amazing people, shared stories, and friendships. I’m incredibly grateful to WWIA, the hosts, guides , and volunteers who made this experience possible. I appreciate all the love, laughs, and good times. This was my second event with WWIA and is by far the most normal I’ve felt since I left the military. The folks at the Bayfield Cast and Blast are good folks. Chris, Brenda, Jimmy, Derrick, Russ, Chase and definitely Keith are great representatives of what your organization stands for. This was my first WWIA event, and actually the first out of state veterans’ event ever. The WWIA, reps, sponsors, and volunteers were all terrific and incredibly hospitable and accommodating. I was able to harvest a nine-point buck on the first hunt of the event and was incredibly happy to have gotten the opportunity! The food, drinks, sweets, hunting, and fishing provided by the team and community all led to an unbelievable experience and was a nice distraction from the grind of everyday life. I have been to several WWIA events, and all were fabulous events. The Bayfield Cast and Blast was terrific and the Hosts and the camaraderie were the best. The food was terrific, fishing was great, I caught a 40” muskie and saw a 400 pound black bear and was able to take a video of it. Looking forward to the next adventure. Thank you so much! C. I will be forever grateful to the most patient and caring hosts, guides, and every one of the landowners that made this the most amazing experience of a lifetime. The incredible guides we had on this hunt will be friends for life. Hunting Mule deer is an entirely different way to hunt than I have ever done. It has been a very long time for me to be that excited when I watched my 10-point finally drop. I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you and the entire WWIA staff for everything you have done for me, and for everything you continue to do for veterans.  I truly had the trip of a lifetime. From spending time with Finn, the guides, his family, and all of the men in camp, the entire experience was something I will never forget. The camaraderie, generosity, and memories made throughout the trip were incredible.
